gun light for glock 19

Gun Light For Glock 19 - Years ago, it was rare to see anyone outside of the military or law enforcement carrying a flashlight. As lights became more compact and less expensive, they became much more common. More and more citizens began adding lights to their concealed weapons. Inforce has released a new product that will make this even easier.

Traditionally, adding a flashlight to your favorite compact handgun also added unwanted bulk and made it more difficult to conceal. The lights add considerable length, if not thickness, to the gun. Inforce solved this problem by taking one of the most popular concealed carry pistols, the Glock 19, and designing a gun light that fills the empty space under the dust cover.

The Inforce APLc handgun light is no thicker than a Glock 19 slide and does not protrude beyond the barrel of the gun. For less than two ounces, it adds 200 lumens of pure white light with almost no downside. When worn in the IWB (inside the belt) position the addition, the minimum weight is not visible. If you remove the belt, you have no excuse not to put the light on your gun.

Light For G19 Gen5

The main (and really only) reason to carry a flashlight is to be able to identify a target in a potentially lethal situation. While some of us are lumens, 200 lumens is plenty of power for a gun light. Many shooters would have trouble hitting a target that is far enough away to be at the edge of the APLc range.

On a dark and foggy night, with a rifle, I want ALL THE LUMENS. In a normal urban environment, 200 lumens APLc is acceptable considering the small package it contains.

The original APL had some issues with the quick release system. This was resolved in later generations. In the case of APLc, Inforce has chosen a minimalist approach. The mounting system uses the classic cross design. The screw goes through the APLc body and through the slot in the G19 dust cap. On the opposite side, it is screwed into the metal nut found in the body of the flashlight. However, be careful when tightening the cross bolt to prevent stripping the threads or cracking the flashlight body. This is a very simple and effective assembly design.

Inforce APLc control sets it apart from the competition. The APLc is dual and allows easy access to momentary or permanent light. In normal two-handed shooting, it is easy to depress the paddle switch with the thumb on the side of the main point of the hand. A quick tap and release will turn the light on continuously. Another tap and release will disable it. Holding the paddle for more than half a second will put it into flash mode. Releasing the paddle will turn it off. If the light is on, in continuous on mode, pressing the throttle for more than 1/2 second and releasing it will also turn the light off. It is much more complicated to write than to operate.

How The Glock 19 Forever Changed The Global Gun Market

Where the APLc really leaves the competition behind is when only one hand can be used to operate the weapon. In such a situation, the key is to be able to turn on the flashlight with your hand on the trigger and then be able to quickly pull the trigger. APLc cows are easily accessible for most index fingers. A quick tap when the gun is raised will turn the light on in continuous mode. The index finger is then free to use the trigger. When it's time to move, another quick tap on the paddle and the light goes out. This is a very simple operation to do when you are picking up the kids and your mind is working in the middle of the night.

In a tool designed specifically for this purpose, form must give way to functionality. Appearance should be the last thing you should pay attention to. In this case, Inforce greatly improved the appearance of the original APL. The full size APL we currently use in our SIG 1911 has a matte gray finish. It doesn't look bad compared to the flat gray and black finish of this pistol, it looks a little out of place compared to the deep black of the Glock's polymer frame. For Inforce, it made sense to use a matte black polymer for the Glock-specific APLc. Color and texture match the Glock frame. The shape of the APLc fits the lines of the Glock and makes it feel like a well thought out system rather than a clip-on accessory. Inforce even went so far as to tweak the APLc blades to better suit the custom frame tasks that are trending on Instagram.

Overall, Inforce has done a spectacular job creating a light that complements the Glock 19 without detracting from the compact form factor that makes it such a great concealment pistol. What's even more amazing is that Inforce is offering this made-in-the-USA light for $150 MSRP.

While this light is designed for the Glock 19, it will fit any Glock pistol with a Glock spec rail (that weird G21 picatinny should not apply). Also fits many other light glock rail pistols. We haven't had a chance to test it on the H&K VP9 or S&W M&P, but we'll report back when we can confirm a match.

Holders are quickly becoming available for this setup. If you haven't already purchased the APLc, High Threat Concealment offers a combo deal, including a SPECTER holster. VEIL Solutions also offers holster options for APLc.

A big thanks to Inforce for sending us the APLc weapon flashlight to review. If you want to get an APLc for your gun, you can buy them here: Midway USA. Today I'm looking at the first flash of the Klarus pistol, the GL1. It produces 600 lumens for 1 minute, has an adjustable bar to fit a variety of different sized guns, and is microUSB rechargeable. Thanks Klarus for sending this to me for review.

The GL1 comes with a hinged retail box, and that's basically what you'd expect. There is a runtime graph at the bottom. Inside is the GL1 itself, a MicroUSB charging cable and a manual. You also get a replaceable rail piece and some small screws to lock it in place once you have it in place for your firearm.

The GL1 is made of aluminum and has an IPX6 waterproof rating. It is a one-piece design and quite narrow in the front, becoming slightly wider as the cone widens towards the rear. The front has a bezel deep enough to protect the lens. On the right side (after assembly) there is an LED, useful during charging and informing about the charge level. At the bottom is the MicroUSB charging port covered by a silicone cover. Unlike the Olight, it is not magnetic, which some people will like.

Upgrading The Glock 19 With Olights Baldr S Light Laser Combo

On the back you have two plastic switches that flip down a bit to turn on. There is a piece of rubber here that will give you some. It's quite stiff and at least for me on the glock platform it's a bit further than the Olight PL-Mini 2. What I don't like are the contours they chose for these buttons. For me, the sharp angle is inconvenient because my finger hits a sharper angle, using the less available finger pad to press the button. It works a little better if I enter from the top/side, rather than directly from the top. I think I can fold them down a bit for better ergonomics.

The GL1 uses a more traditional bolt and spring mounting system. The screw can be loosened by hand, with a coin or a worn housing, then pressed to spread the jaws of the pickitniy rail section. The rail element is adjustable. It slides on a plastic step guide. The small rail is spring loaded, so once you attach it to your firearm, it won't go anywhere. It's a mount system that works pretty well, it's a bit slower than the Olight PL-Mini2 system, especially when switching between guns, but overall it's a pretty good build.

As for holster options, I don't know anyone who supports the GL1 yet to buy something off the shelf. This means that if you want to use this in a weapon, you have to have something custom made. I think it would be very smart if the light bulb manufacturers would work with the case manufacturer in advance or come up with something themselves when the lights come out.

The Olight PL-Mini2 is the light that is the closest competitor in basically all stats and even in size. As you can see in the picture, they are here
